What to expect when joining an HPHH program

Entering a new environment can be daunting, especially when it involves being in a group setting. Being the new person can often be scary. But once you find something in common with the group you're joining, you'll slowly feel at ease and you'll be able to enjoy the experience. This is what we are hoping to provide our participant groups at Happy Paws Happy Hearts - an open and encouraging environment where you can connect with other people who have a similar interest in spending time with animals and building life and social skills.

Our groups are full of people from different walks of life. So while you're busy learning about rescue animals and caring for them, you'll discover that you're learning a lot about yourself too.

We run our training sessions at local rescue shelters and wildlife conservation organisations so that we can serve different rescue animals. Together with our participants, we deliver quality training to animals in recovery or are waiting for homes.

In each program, you will be challenged and engaged by working with a variety of animals with a consistent class structure. Our trainers are there to guide you and set new opportunities as you work within these shelters.

We will support you in your goals by providing you with the opportunities to learn new skills and build on existing ones.

Participants work as a team and spend valuable hours caring for puppies, dogs, cats, kittens and our wildlife visitors!

Happy Paws Happy Hearts Founder, Zoe Black says the program, which was designed to solve two social problems at the same time has seen a 50% demand increase due to the pandemics impact on mental health and social connection.

“Our participants support rescue animals in their recovery while working on their own personal goals.”

“In 2021, our measurements found that over 81% of our participants were improving in multiple areas of their lives. The biggest reported changes were in our participants feeling more positive about themselves and knowing they matter along with being able to communicate with others”.

Our sessions run Monday to Friday and are offered in either morning or afternoon slots. We work with participants in the NDIS, Veteran Rehabilitation Services, and select state-based injured workers schemes. We don’t want access to be an issue for valuable members of our community, and are dedicated to finding a program that can be the paw-fict fit.
