Experiencing the ‘Animal Magic’: Physio Inq Visits Happy Paws Happy Hearts

Happy Paws Happy Hearts programs are built on the foundation of meaningful connections that prosper between socially isolated people and rescue animals. This is what we like to call, “animal magic”. But this magic transcends our sessions too. When our partners visit one of our 7 HPHH locations, they also get a preview of what this connection looks like firsthand.

We recently had the pleasure of hosting three groups from Physio Inq, consisting of OTs, Physiotherapists, and Exercise Physiologists, at Happy Paws Happy Hearts in Wacol. It was an opportunity to immerse themselves in our programs, experience the transformative power of human-animal interactions, and explore new avenues for enhancing their clients’ well-being.

The visit started with a mini-session with Program Trainer Justin, who shared insights on animal care and behaviour. The group participated in hands-on dog training in the classroom and pen while learning about the ‘paw-some’ therapeutic benefits of working with animals. Then, they toured our shelter partner RSPCA’s Adoption Centre and saw our training facilities, gaining a deeper understanding of our operations and mission.

HPHH Ambassador and stroke survivor Caitlin talks

HPHH Ambassador Caitlin was able to join us to share her inspiring story with the group, along with past participants-turned-volunteers, Hayley and Jen, who shared their experiences and the impact our programs have had on their lives.

Katie Kohler from Physio Inq expressed their gratitude, saying, "We have had great feedback from the team, who really enjoyed themselves in the session... so we truly appreciate it! They are already brainstorming which clients they feel it would be beneficial for."

At Happy Paws Happy Hearts, we firmly believe in the power of our programs to positively impact the lives of those we serve. By providing unique experiences centred around animal interactions, we aim to enhance the well-being of individuals and communities alike. By connecting with organisations like Physio Inq, we can reach more paws and hearts across Australia.

The visit from Physio Inq reaffirmed the value of our work and the importance of collaboration within the allied health community. We are grateful for the opportunity to share our passion with such a dedicated group of professionals and look forward to continuing our journey together in creating positive change.

Thank you, Physio Inq, for your visit and for the meaningful work you do. Together, we are strengthening bonds and transforming lives, one interaction at a time.
